Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis is an inflammatory arthritis that is similar to rheumatoid arthritis but occurs in patients with the skin condition called psoriasis. Although the inflammatory changes in the joint are the same as those seen in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis differs in the distribution and types of joint affected. Sometimes the back is involved as well as the peripheral joints and this is never seen in rheumatoid. Fortunately the treatments for Psoriatic arthritis that are now available are not only good for the arthritis but are also extremely useful for the control of the psoriasis.
