Dr Louis McGuigan

and the Team

Dr McGuigan graduated from Medicine in 1977 from the University of NSW with First Class Honours. He then trained firstly as a General Physician and then as a Rheumatologist in Sydney and in Auckland New Zealand. He completed a Doctoral Thesis on the causes of Ankylosing Spondylitis and related forms of arthritis.

Dr McGuigan has been a Rheumatologist since 1983 and has worked in the Sutherland Shire since 1985. He was a Senior Staff Specialist and Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the St George Hospital for seven years. He has held every executive position on the Australian Rheumatology Association and has been the President of that organisation for two terms. He has also been the coordinator of training for all specialists training in Rheumatology for four years in the 1990’s.

Dr McGuigan has been in Private Practice for many years and has enjoyed greatly the relationship he has with his patients. He says he has been fortunate to meet thousands of wonderful people over the years and hopes that he has been able to assist them with accurate diagnosis, clear advice and careful management.

We at this practice are dedicated to giving personal, timely and compassionate treatment to all my patients. It is a privilege to be a doctor and it is a role Dr McGuigan takes very seriously. We realise that people who come to us are in need and often are quite distressed. We hope to relieve that distress and eliminate its cause but if we can’t do that we will advise as to what can and should be done. We also try and make the experience of coming to this practice a pleasant one from the time you call up, to the time you no longer need to return.

In short, we value our patients and the trust they place in us.

We look forward to seeing you.
